Hatton James blogging scheme
Below is a list of topics that the bloggers can choose from when we request an article. This is the process:
- Propose a topic to us;
- When we have approved it, you write a minimum of 600 words on it, within 7 days;
- We will let you have a revised version showing the changes so that you can learn from the editing process.
Bloggers who do this consistently can expect a favourable reference from us and your own url linking to all your articles, for use on your cv.
Topics we write on:
- Unfair Dismissal
- Discrimination
- Pay
- Right to work in the UK
- Redundancy
If there is something in particular you want to write about that has an employment angle and is not in the above list, then we would welcome you asking us about it.
You are not expected to have a mastery of the legal analysis – we will do quality control before publication. The key is to be able to write according to our house rules, i.e. simply, neutrally and engagingly. Our house style is:
- Topical
- Write for the lay person, ideally from a neutral employee/employer perspective
- Punchy (short words in short sentences in short paragraphs)
- Informative and entertaining
- At least 600 words in the edited end-product
- Use headings for clarity
- Include some analysis, not just reporting
